This Bordeaux inspired blend comes from a single vineyard estate in Matakana, North Island. Kawau Bay offers full bodied and attractive early drinking with aromas of spicy plums, cherries and blackberries, which carry through to the palate with fine tannins and cedary, cigar box flavours. It is a complex blend firmly structured and with a savoury finish.

The name Takatu translates as `well-prepared` and vineyard owner John Forsman, spends his time between the vineyard and flying around the world as a pilot. Takatu Vineyard is situated on a warm north facing hillside above Matakana Village. It has the ideal aspect as it is sheltered from the prevailing cool south-westerly winds and the summer heat is moderated by a gentle sea breeze from the nearby Pacific Ocean. With very limited production of Pinot Gris, Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, this is truly a `boutique` winery.

Tandoori meats, steak au poivre, roasted Mediterranean vegetables or goats cheese salad.
