We’ve recently got some interesting new beers in-store. The first of these is from Germany and is the Erdinger Alcohol-Free beer which is actually a ‘Refreshing Isotonic Drink’ with less than 0.5% Alcohol by Volume to it! This is actually a recovery drink and apparently it provides the body with essential vitamins and helps promote healthy nutrition! This is a great surprise...

The Last Try Wines team were very happy that there was a big rugby match at Twickenham at the weekend. This was the England v Ireland match in the Six Nations tournament at the stadium. As always on these big rugby day matches the local area became alive to the throng of thousands of England and Ireland rugby fans with the Irish fans being the most distinctive in the crowds...

The most popular beers with customers have recently been the Innis&Gunn Original Oak-Aged Beer from Scotland which has a malty biscuit character with light fruity hops; the Hawaiian Kona Big Wave Golden Ale and the Monteith’s Golden lager from New Zealand which also has a tropical fruit character to them.

For our open bottle evening we offered customers a chance to sample or ‘dram’ a choice of three Malt whiskies including the Bushmills 10 Y.O. Malt Whiskey, the L&G Woodford Reserve Bourbon and the Penderyn 41 from Wales - a new malt whisky. These whiskies proved to be a perfect  ‘winter warmer’ for those who tried some ‘drams’ of these to counter the stormy cold...

Our ‘World of Whiskies’ tasting last Thursday at the Albany pub turned out to be a hit with those who attended the evening who have a ‘taste’ for their whiskies.

Robert Burns himself would have been impressed with the quality and diversity of some of the Malt Whiskies from other countries being sampled that evening in celebration of the poet’s traditional annual...
